Jinjer’s new album captures one of their final shows before the world entered lockdown, a stirring and headbanging performance in Melbourne.
“Teacher, Teacher!” starts things off with a slow build. A song that picks up speed as it goes along, demolishing the very fragments of time that echo within the world. A snarling and biting frankenstein that whirs away through the catacombs. “Sit Stay Roll Over,” rolls in through, battering the doors and bringing together a frenetic sense of energy and power. “Ape,” takes a turn on the spinning wheel of death, slashing through the mound and getting the crowd and the listener going. A song that truly takes the turn and delivers a thrashing smash to the gut. “Judgement (Punishment),” slams down hard and fast, ripping up the sacred bonds of time and pushing for a time before time.
“Retrospection,” continues the build up, showing off the diversity within Jinjer’s ranks, pushing the bound through and slamming down what is and isn’t there. “Perennial,” delivers a cut throat embrace, delivering a crushing sense of time and place for all to embrace. “On The Top,” works its way through the catacombs of time, pushing and pressing in from all sides, working through the scattered platforms of time to bring about a workable conclusion for all. “Pit of Consciousness,” slams and grinds, delivering the works.
“Pisces,” is epic. Simply epic, you can tell the crowd know they are witnessing something phenomenal as the song progresses. “Captain Cook,” whirs through the battering ram of time, pushing the listener into all sorts of extremes, slamming the guilt hand through. “Words of Wisdom,” crowds the listener and then unleashes a smattering of rage and pain.
The album is out on 20th November via Napalm Records.
