STARTING OUT
Orphaned Land hail from Israel, a land that has seen much happen during its existence. A land caught in the middle of what seems like neverending conflict. As Kobe Farhi, vocalist for the band explained in an interview with The Median Man, the band’s name came from this sense that the destruction of the Holy Land had led to them feeling as if they were in an Orphaned Land.
The band’s music has tended to move between darkness and light, reflecting their influences. As seen on albums such as Mabool which tells the story of the flood, and The Never Ending Way of ORWarriOR which is about the struggle between darkness and light. The use of ‘oriental’ instruments in the band’s music has added an extra depth that has made them stand out from the herd.
As the band has progressed in experience and music, they have grown from strength to strength and continue to show why they are one of the hottest bands in the region and the world.
