“The Past Is Dead,” starts off with a shredding guitar solo over the back of a melodic rhythm section which veers from one end to the next. As the song quickens in pace the melodic lead takes over. A charge into the light is created through this pacing, and as the vocals of singer Andreas come into being, the listener is treated to something quite magnificent. The song is a real trend setter and a great one to start off the record with.

“Killing Time,” the title track of the record, is filled with aggression and precision. The riffs are jagged and sharpened. The vocals are biting and filled with questioning intent.

“Jerusalem Syndrome,” is simply epic. There is no other way to describe it. Right from the beginning it weans its way into the mind of the listener and turns through into a sharpening interlude of magic and magnificence.

“Awakening,” takes on a slower more melancholic edge. Slowly shifting the scope toward a darkened edge, and unleashing chaos as it progresses through the time sphere.

“Hangmen Also Die,” has a fascinating guitar melody at the beginning, there are echoes of Angra within its structure. As the song progresses, so too do the riffs, and they become slightly more complex and more grandiose. The song itself revolves around a number of concepts which makes the lyrical content of this song so fascinating.

“The Wild Hunt,” is a soaring song. A song that truly reflects its subject matter and brings about some new techniques into the mind of the listener, slowly producing a shifting tenor around the hunt. The call and repeat of the vocals particularly in the intro is fantastic.

“Discovery,” takes bull by the horns and is completely filled with infectious melodies and a sharp turn here and there.

“Hasta La Muerte,” is fast and furious and the right way to end the album.

This album is an absolute gem and will be available from January 17th, be sure to get it!
