“Pilgrim’s Choir,”is the haunting intro to Pilgrimage the second album by heavy metal titans Velvet Viper. The guitars are eerie, their harmonies definitely imbuing a sense of complexity and foreboding in the listener.

“Pilgrimage,” takes the lead from there. It delivers a snarling, head moving riff that leads the song and encourages the listener to truly immerse themselves in the vocals.

“The Fear Of Death,” is another hauntingly delivered bone chiller. A song that shimmers through the catacombs of time and rocks the very fibres of music.

“Pioneer Of The Storm,” goes all in, with a shredding guitar lead and an impressive stop and gallop.

“Black Bone Song,” shimmers through, delivering some interesting melodies for a bait and switch.

“Rose of Martyrdom,” is a raging riff machine. A song that delivers an interesting buoyancy that really gets the listener going.

“The Man Who Stole The Holy Fire,” is simply epic. A song that combines swaggering riffs with soaring melodies that together deliver something quite impressive.

“Achilles Heel,” roars into being, smashing through the tempestuous storms of time and delivering something quite exceptional.

“The Pale Man,” slowly weaves its spell. The acoustic guitars deliver an interesting touch whilst the vocals soar into being and present something fascinating for all.

“Omega Child,” heats things up. Delivering some impressive riff exchanges and pushing boundaries as far as they can realistically go.

“Fallen Angel,” is a riff sandwich and finishes off a  great album.

Then there are the bonus tracks.

“Merlin,” is filled with riff driven sorcery, harmonies galore and some seriously catchy melodies.

“HM Rebels,” drives the day with some interesting guitar arpeggios which push at the bounds of acceptability.

“King Arthur,” is a powerful song that really gets the listener engaged, right from the moment the gang vocals kick things off into beginning.

“Ring of Stone,” ends the bonus tracks with some fierce melodies and riffs.

The album is out on 21st August via Massacre Records, be sure to get it.
