Synthetic are the new kids in town and they’re here to stay. Following on from their debut album, they’ve got eleven songs of pure unadulterated metal that are sure to capture the imagination, especially as the songs come from left field and cannot be pinned down.
“Graceful Ignorance,” hits things hard, slamming and swaying, turning the screws through, and leading the way into the darkness that comes from “Slipwalk,” though “Slipwalk,” also contains some seriously melodical elements that ensure that the listener is moving along with the song.
After that, you’ve got the absolute power combo of “Shades of Tomorrow,” and “Hostile Design,” which take the listener on a serious journey through the stratosphere and beyond, delivering them into a mindbending landscape.
Title track “Clepsydra,” is epic. It contains so many levels and the passion within the melodies and the instrumentation is simply something to behold. As the song progresses it ventures on the outs and delivers a smashing finale.
“Crimson Farewell,” and “Cage of Hopes,” are two of the longest and most epic songs on the record. They are so in contrast to one another that one might be forgiven for thinking they come from different albums and eras. But they contain a core truth and that is the desire to produce some seriously catchy grooves and melodies whilst also not letting go of the story telling aspect that is so important to Synthetic.
The album is out on 2nd October.
