Ravensire combine epicness with traditional heavy metal melodies, the result is their latest album A Stone Engraved In Red.

Starting off with “Carnage At Karnag,” with its slow guitar licks and the cawwing of ravens, it becomes obvious that the band are approaching some epic. As the song slowly gets heavier and more distorted, the true potential of the song is exposed. The vocals come in with brutal efficiency and the galloping rhythms pick the pace up even further. A brilliant opener. “Thieves Of Pleasure,” turns the heaviness up by a notch. Bringing the galloping rhythms of Iron Maiden and mixing them together with the heaviness and savagery of Death. The vocals are once more on fire. “Gabriel Lies Sleeping,” is simply epic. The guitars and instrumentation shift and turn, bringing about a fascinating melodical reach. All of this then plays into the musical and lyrical genius of the vocal melodies. “Dawning In Darkness,” continues the pathway of simple excellence and brilliant melodies galloping at full speed.

“Bloodsoaked Fields,” shifts and turns. Starting off slowly, with the clean triplet like melody, and the Gregorian choir in the background. It gradually gets heavier before turning into something completely epic. “After The Battle,” is pure heaviness unleashed on a scale that very few have reached for a great many years. Capturing the desperation of battle and war perfectly. “The Smiting God,” twists and turns, bringing with it, some seriously awesome riffage. “The Games Of Titus,” begins with a galloping acoustic intro before stepping up things with a powerful electric melody and a shifting and changing powerful stance.

The album is out on 14th June via Cruz Del Sur Music.
