Kobra and the Lotus are a band who have taken the metal world by storm producing quality album after quality album, Evolution their newest release continues to show why they are the best band on the new scene.
“Evodem,” is haunting, jangling and the perfect set up for the carnage to follow. “Evolution,” the title track is an onslaught on the senses. It carves its way through the listener’s defences, and infects it with groove and power. The song weaves itself through the system, and delivers a strong and defiant statement. “Burn!” Is a rip roaring rocker, a song that contains strong riffs, powerful vocals and a defiant message. “We Come Undone,” shreds through the line. Epic guitar arrangements mix together with strong and powerful vocal melodies to deliver something that has everyone moving in greed. “Wounds,” pounds the listener’s skull demanding to be heard, and ensures the message gets across loud and clear. “Thundersmith,” has an epic case of pause and repeat, twisting through the melodies, bringing the bluesy call and response to the fore.
“Circus,” weaves into being, slowly tantalisingly, shifting the key through and up, reaching around to bring something new and refreshing to the fore. “Wash Away,” starts off acoustically, weaving itself around the listener’s consciousness, then delving into something that brings around a new world, slowly working into the ether. “Liar,” brings the heaviness back, roaring into focus with ballsy riffs and interchanging the melodies. “Get the F_Ck Out of Here,” is groovy, and brings together different elements of the combination to ensure the listener is moving and grooving together. “In The End,” roars into being, shifting the tenor of the conversation, and ensuring it is remembered well past the final note.
