What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences?
Ultimo is suburb of Sydney that was a place in the 80s and 90s where a lot of musicians and artists like myself lived. I thought it would be good when i had the idea of the project to reconnect with some of the people that used to live there to play and collaborate of the songs, so i named it the Lost Dogs Of Ultimo
How do you approach songwriting and are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?
The process of creating for us always starts with a theme or topic . We have already covered Death, Mental Health serial killers and institutional abuse. Our latest release The Grinding is about environmental Respect and indigenous rights

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?
Im deeply connected to the topics and the collaborators are usually feeling the same that’s why we work well together as a collective of message based artists
How do you decide what songs to perform live?
We try to build a set of songs that reflect the Gig we are doing and the bands we play with we have a huge catalogue of music now so every show is different we love that diversity and spontaniety

What plans do you have for the future?
We are enjoying our latest release promotions and next month will be hedging back in to the studio to record some new tracks with new collaborators due for January release
