What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?
Farewell Fortune was born from a conversation with my wife when I was driving to the studio to record the first album release “Decompose”. Really just a take on you have to take risks in this world to follow your dreams to their fruition. Being in an independent music project, all that money spent on marketing, recording, and video shoots adds up in the end.
Influences are many for me as I love a diversified blend of music. Artists like Linkin Park, U2, Pearl Jam, Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Prince have given me so much inspiration over the years.
How do you approach songwriting?
It really depends on what life experiences I’m going through at the time. Mental health has also always been a huge subject when it comes to writing. I see music as therapeutic and easily delve into that realm when I’m writing lyrics. I usually write the lyrics as I’m in the studio listening to the rhythm. I find it easier to create when you’re in the right space.

Why do you play what you do?
It’s definitely a love of those specific genres combined with whatever message I feel needs relayed to the listener. My lyrics tend to be metaphorical in nature so that one can make their own interpretation.
How do you decide what to play live?
As a new music project, I am getting a library of songs together before hitting the stage. I want to have many songs to choose from before attempting to create a live version. Once the new album “Chaos Serum” is complete, I will be arranging a live group to begin the process of live performances.

What plans do you have for the future?
I am finishing up the album mastering for “Chaos Serum” releasing on April 28th. I also have the short film video for “Static” coming on April 28th. Going to be a huge Spring for sure. There will be two sequel videos called “One Way Back” and the title track “Chaos Serum”. All will be posted on YouTube for viewing.
