What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?
Deadly Virtues was a name created to represent the virtue signaling and self-centered ideals of society today. An example would be feeding the homeless, but recording yourself doing it for the attention and to inflate one’s own ego. Our music is influenced through multiple genres including but not limited to: 80’s metal, nu-metal, and metalcore among others.
How do you approach songwriting?
Songwriting should never be forced and should be something that comes naturally. Usually, it starts with a feeling or topic, sitting down with your instrument and trying to emote through your instrument. Any good song will establish a feeling and theme before the singing actually starts. The themes that we write about are based off of personal life experiences and experiences observed through others. Typically we try to keep the songs relevant to the theme of the album to create a more impactful listening experience.

Why?
Metal is a type of music that is full of energy, emotion, and technical passages borrowed from classical works. There is no other genre that combines all of these qualities into one. Metal is raw, yet refined. You can get hyped up and go crazy in the pit, then have tears fall during a ballad. It is such a broad genre of music that creating within it will never get old.
Live?
We usually have a couple of predetermined sets according to the length of the time slot. Our music is written in a way that allows us to perform live with very little plugins or backing tracks and we do that intentionally. We want our music in a live setting to match the quality of the album as much as possible. When you see Deadly Virtues live, you’re going to see musicians playing their instruments, not just dancing around to back tracks like so many groups performing today.

What plans do you have for the future?
We are in the process of booking shows for our tour legs for next year across the US. We also have some new music in the works and you should see some new music content starting to come out in the next couple of months. We are looking forward to playing shows for you all and see you on stage soon!
