What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?

Did you think it was William Blake? It’s a reference to the zodiac sign I was under when I started the band. It doesn’t mean much.

When I started playing guitar at 13, I was obsessed with rock music from the 60s and 70s. British and American.
When I started playing in bands in high school, I was interested in artists who sing in Japanese. To write songs, you know. I think it was mostly city pop. It wasn’t popular at the time at all.
After that, I got more and more into all kinds of black music. Old stuff, neo-soul and later stuff.
I also like the twisted intelligence of Donald Fagen when it comes to songwriting.
The new artists of these days are very interesting in their sound making. I’m studying.

How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to
explore when you start off?

I rarely create from lyrics. That’s the last thing I do.
When I first started composing, I would write a song like this because I wanted to use this chord progression, or something like that.
Now, composing means choosing what kind of sound production I want. Isn’t that the way of the era?

Why do you write the sort of music you do?

It’s almost like I’m writing a letter to someone. I don’t know who, though.

How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them
into that live setting?

The most exciting time for the band members is when we play a recorded song live for the first time. It’s thrilling.
As for the order of the songs, I always get a sign from God.

What plans do you have for the future?

I’ve got three singles coming out on UK labels, “Atlantis” in November, “Poolside” in January and “Pilgrims” in March. Check it out.
