DREAM HEAVEN

What inspired the name of the band and what are your influences?

Oh it took a while to find it!! Reaven is a mix of the French word “rêve” (dream) and the English word “heaven” (a place where most musicians go when they play music I guess (laughs) . After writing almost 1000 names on the paper, we found it. We do have a very large panel of influences. Musically, from the Woodstock years, The Beatles etc… to more recent bands like Kings of Leon, Muse etc…

We also have Rhythm’n’blues, classical and jazz influences…

How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?

I don’t have a special way to draw my inspiration. Most of the time, it comes to my mind out of nowhere. Days, and nights. I have a melody in my head or the instrumental parts, sometimes both. So I take my piano or my guitar and I start playing it. Inspiration can be everywhere for me. In my feelings, in my observation of the world or society, in the past, in my memories. Or just when I see something that inspires me at one moment

NATURALLY

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

I guess it comes to me very naturally. I don’t “decide” it, I have a melody in my head, and most of the time it’s a pop/rock one so I follow my feelings, simply.

How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?

Most of the time we decide a setlist all together, and then on tour before each gig or almost each gig, we add or move some songs, so we can try different setlists with slight changes. We are paying attention to our live performances. We always want to give the audience something different than the studio version. So when we start the rehearsals for the shows, we literally work on the songs like if they were totally different. We try stuffs until we have a new and different versions of each songs!

We are actually working on our next album (it will be released this year I think). And also re-scheduling our European tour and US tour for 2021…
