MADRE SUN
What inspired the formation and naming of the band?
The band was formed at the start of 2019 and we recorded our debut EP in Cambridge 5 months later. Matt and Eduardo were looking to start a new band in London so I went to watch a show of theirs in Camden and we decided then to have a jam and start something new. Once we got together it was clear we had a good chemistry so we started to work on the songs for the E.P. The band name came about brainstorming in Soho, London and we thought it suited us well.
Why do you write the music that you do?
The music comes from a love of Rock n Roll and just getting together and having a good time. A song like Black River is written about Matt and Eduardo’s home town in Brazil called Rio Preto (Black River in English)

NATURAL
How do you approaching playing live?
When we play live we like to keep it as natural as possible, its pretty much just straight up rock n roll. We try to get the energy that we have in the rehearsal room onto the stage, and I think we do a good job of that.
How has covid impacted you?
The main impact is that we cannot play live, and it doesn’t look like this will be happening soon either. We released our EP during this period so it’s frustrating not being able to get out and play.
