What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?
The band name came from not knowing what was going to come from our first album, ‘out of the shadows’ we had been recording songs for a while (As it started as a session project) and it was only late into having most of the songs completed that we decided to release them out into the world as a band hence ‘Into The Unknown’ sort of felt right. The influences really do very from each member which is what helps us sound unique. For myself (Ryan – Guitar) I come from a classic rock line up, Rupert (Bass) is more symphonic now a days, James (Guitar) is a little bit of everything but more down the lines of metal and our Singer (Natalie) is very pop influenced and mixing this all together we do come out with some interesting ideas!
How do you approach songwriting?
Its sort of an open book with us, whomever has an idea gets in the studio and lays it down and without influence we all come in listen and add in what we feel is right and fits and create our parts quite fluidly in the studio so the finished song is never like the original idea but it much more in depth where everyone puts in through their own musical process.
Why do you write the sort of music that you do?
Passion and fun, all our music stems from our love of playing, performing and capturing some of the experiences we have all been through and finding ways of getting this back out into the world for people to re-live those moments with us or attach their own ideas to our songs. I found we never write music for the hell of it, each song has its own backstory of how that lyric or riff came around and I believe we really put our own stamp on what we do.
How do you decide what to perform live?
We have a few songs that we personally feel just belong live on stage such as ‘Are you ready’ or ‘Why Me’ just have that right hit to get the crowd pumping! We always try to keep true to our songs and never remove anything when we play them live. We try a concoction of ways to ensure they are true to the album.
What plans do you have for the future?
We are busy slaving away in the studio for our next upcoming release which will fully debut Natalie on vocals, whilst we have released some teasers with her singing to show fans what’s to come I don’t think it quite compares to the overall sound of this next album. As well as that we are gearing up for some live shows where the energy bursting out of the rehearsal room can finally be set free!
