What inspired the name of the band and the formation of it?
We have been playing in a classic rock cover band called “ECHO” since 2009. Playing cover songs is fun, but we also wanted to write our own songs. So, in 2014, we formed “Against Evil” to focus on writing and playing our own music. There really isn’t any inspiration or story behind the band name. We chose it cause it sounds cool!
Why do you play the music that you do?
Our music is a mix of traditional heavy metal, power metal and a little bit of thrash metal. We have been listening to bands like Judas Priest, Accept, Dio, Iron Maiden, Megadeth, etc etc since we were kids which inspired us to make similar music.

How do you approach songwriting?
Our song writing always starts with the guitars. When we come up with something interesting on the guitar, we add drums on top of it and try to make it into a full song. Then comes the vocals, melodies etc etc.
What themes did you explore on your latest album and why?
Our latest album is called “All Hail the King”. We always listen to the instrumental version of the songs and write about what comes to our mind. On this album, we wrote about medieval kings, war, dictatorship and motorcycles!

Is there more that could be done to promote bands such as yourself?
Absolutely. Metal is not “mainstream” music and is a difficult genre to promote. That’s why we need all the promotion and publicity that we can get. Promotion on social media is great but there are a lot of bands and the reach is limited. That’s why we also like to promote ourselves the “old school” way by putting up posters at record stores, handing out flyers, stickers at gigs etc.
What plans do you have for the future?
We are working on a new album right now which will be out sometime in the summer. We are also looking forward to our second European tour which is in November.
