Sorcerer, formed in Stockholm, Sweden in 1988, were one of the pioneers of the second wave of doom metal bands to emerge in the shadow of the Cold War. Between 1988-1992, the band recorded two demos, both of which drew a lot of interest from the community, and saw them share the stage with doom legends Count Raven. Unfortunately, opportunities for further advancement were limited and in 1992, the band disbanded.

Eighteen years later, in 2010, a request was made for Johnny Hagel to put together a band to play at the Hammer of Doom Festival, upon accepting this request, Hagel reformed Sorcerer. Such was the reception that the band got that they decided to keep going. Their first two demos were re-released in 2011, and in 2015, the band released their debut album which showed that they had what it took to keep things going.

Their next album The Crowning Of The Fire King was pure doom metal, with anthemic twists and turns. It too drew rave reviews from everyone who listened to it, and won the band a great many new fans. With songs like the title track and “Sirens,” it was easy to see Sorcerer stepping into carry the torch that Black Sabbath had so recently put away.

In 2020, Sorcerer prepare to release their newest album Lamenting Of The Innocent. It is an album that is filled with songs of doom and power. An album about the Inquisition, a dark period in time that has a suitably dark soundtrack. Sorcerer sound in fine form throughout the album and the future looks bright.
