TRADEMARK

What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences?

The name Tradmrkd came from our original name which was Trademark. We realised at a later date that there was already a few artists with the same name so we decided to add an ED at the end because we liked the name Trademark. However, Trademarked seemed really long. To make it short  we took away all but one vowel and we thought the name looked cool so it stuck. There is literally no meaning behind the name. Its just sounded and looked cool.

Classic rock and punk have been huge influences on the band. From Guns n Roses, the Smiths to Nirvana and Green Day. We take huge influences from all the old bands.

Our sound is very much similar to the east bay punk sound of the 90s.

How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?

The majority of our songs have been written by our lead singer Eddie Flinn. When approaching songwriting, there is no real set guide he follows. Some songs come naturally some take a lot of work.

When exploring themes, the main focus is on core emotions and core themes. Don’t intend on going into that much specific detail if the song doesn’t need it. Doing this leaves a lot of room for interpretation for the listener on what the song means to them.

We explore themes like, love, loss, anxiety, boredom, friends and growing up to name a few.

PERSONAL LEVEL

Why do you write the sort of music that you do?

Punk to us is the rawest form of producing music that hits home. Pop music just feels away to get money. Punk music, and rock for that matter, is a way to get to peoples feelings. Everyone falls in love with a band because it feels like they are talking to you on a personal level. Unlike pop that feels like they are trying to grab as many people in.

How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?

We normally play the songs we enjoy to play and also the songs our fans enjoy. We haven’t found a problem transposing them into live sets. All our songs are good in a live setting. We practice all our material so we can play on demand whenever.

WHAT WORKS

GREEN LIGHT

What plans do you have for the future?

Unfortunately, due to covid 19 our plans have been put on hold. However, we stay positive and have exciting things planned that are still in the pipeline. They are just waiting for the green light to go ahead.
