Firewind, the Greek metal legends return with a brand spanking new album.
“Welcome To The Empire,” kicks things off with some slow acoustic melodies before things turn serious and the heaviness really kicks in, showing that the band have a lot of gas in the tank.
“Devour,” is a headbanger’s dream, it is filled with pure adrenaline and the vocals soar in between the lines of the instruments. As the song progresses one gets the sense that there is more coming through and the band proves that they are filled to the brim with talent.
“Rising Fire,” the lead single from the new album shows Firewind in their new mould of swaggering perfection. It grooves and slants and changes, producing melodies that are intoxicating and are sure to get Firewind’s fans pumped.
“Break Away,” comes in hard and fast. A song that shows where Firewind’s roots are. A song that truly captures that old fashioned metal spirit.
“Orbitual Sunrise,” gallops along like a mad man, ensuring Firewind’s fans are hooked from the first note to the last. The vocals weave a perfect story around the melodies.
“Longing To Know You,” slows things down ever so slightly, ensuring the listener gets a healthy dose of the more melodic side of the band, and also ensuring that the true nature of the band’s talents shine through. The vocals are simply perfect.
“Perfect Stranger,” gets the ball going once more. The riff machine that is Gus G churns out some of his best work yet. A song that is built on several well timed and well executed riffs is to die for.
“Overdrive,” swaggers along the pathway. A song that will surely get the crowd going when it is performed live and the subtle variations within are given a more grandiose setting with which to display themselves.
“All My Life,” gallops along like a mad man. A song that displays the band’s traditional metal roots, and also allows Gus G to shine through on the shred machine.
“Space Cowboy,” goes in for that melodic swagger. A song that perfectly captures the Firewind spirit and displays it in abundance.
“Kill The Pain,” rattles along at a thousand miles an hour, taking everyone with it and ensuring they love every moment of it. What a finale.
