HUNGRY FOR METAL
What inspired the formation of the band?
Daniel and Andi already played in a Band before, which got apart. Because we did not want to quit playing music, and our friend Marvin also was hungry for playing some Heavy Metal, we quickly got together and shared the first riffs and song ideas. Then little sooner, we contacted Gereon, who we knew a little already, and he joined after one rehearsal.
How do you approach songwriting?
Basically any member comes up with a riff or even already an almost finished song, which is mostly fact in Gereons case. When writing songs for the EP and the 1st album, we then jammed and worked the songs out. For World in Chains we did it a little different. We recorded our ideas and finished songs mostly “in the box”, although approximately half of them were already written by jamming before. Then we went to the studio with a full pre-production, which really simplified the whole recording process, because we already had a clear image, how the songs should sound like.

What themes did you explore on the new record and why?
After having made the 1st album “Genesis Reversed”, we wanted to do it little more simple and straight forward, maybe a little more clichee-like. So the first songs were just about Heavy Metal or typical Heavy Metal themes like hell, murder, darkness and so on (Gates of Hell, forged with Evil, Serial Killer, Lust). Then we moved again to a space-related topic, which fitted very well to the epic sound of “Gravity Remains”. This is basically about the end of a star that has a certain amount of mass a few times higher than the mass of our sun, which collapses to a black hole at the end of its life. Other songs like Paradise Awaits and World in Chains are about the world’s current political, social and environmental status, which is obviously quite fucked up.
What do you make of the metal scene today?
At least here in Germany it is great. We have plenty of concerts or festivals, and they are almost always very crowded. It is also great to see the internationality of the metal scene, because you meet for Germans in Spain or Greece, or you meet Spanish or Greek people at German shows. The same is for most of the (underground) bands, there is a quite large community all over Europe.

First, we want to release the next album and play as many good shows to promote it as possible. We are really looking forward to the spring and summer!
