The legendary melodic metallers return with their tenth album and it promises to be quite the hit.
“111,” starts things off with a harmony and call and repeat shifting things through before the guitars come in with some fascinating melodies and arrangements. A solid start. “Spirit of Daedalus,” is a fascinating song, taking a turn to blitzkrieg its way into melodical and anthemic territory straight away with the arrangements on the guitar. The melodies soar as do the vocals. Another strong offering. “M.E.T.A.L” the title track is a good natured anthem that continues the themes found throughout with high soaring melodies, strong guitar riffs and a powerful chorus. “The Ace Of The Unicorn,” gallops along quite quickly, delivering a sharp push, fighting through the doubters and delivering something quite entertaining and interesting. “Sail Away,” another anthemic song, which delivers soaring vocals and powerful guitar riffs and melodies.
“Fly With Us,” soars, the guitars lead the charge, building an ambient and anthemic sound whilst the vocals weave the melodies in quite tightly ensuring the listener is hooked and can’t but help moving their head in time with the music. “One Step Into Wonderland,” starts with a lead and repeat before moving into driving guitar territory which soon shifts into some powerful vocal charges. “Days of Glory,” is pure power metal, it’s simply glorious. “Wheel of Time,” adds an element of darkness to proceedings and ramps up the game somewhat, showing why the band are the best in the business. “Ronin.” is crucial and crucible it is everything and simply put a masterpiece. “Sole Survivor,” dances on the edge and finishes with a great flourish.
