1. What inspired the name of the band and what are your influences?
I have always enjoyed mystical, magical, supernatural and related things. That was precisely what I wanted to address in my lyrics. And the moon is a very mystical symbol, both for wizards, enchanted beings, wolves and Lycans, so I chose it as the name of my band and added the word “High” to magnify it even more. High Moonlight is a tribute to this historical and mysterious symbol that is the moon and all the mystical beings that exist or existed and are part of our history.
Some of my main influences are classical bands like: Dio, Rainbow, Sabbath, Priest. But in addition I also often listen to a lot of oriental and classical music.
2. How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?
Many times I already have a theme in my head before I start playing or create some new guitar riff for some composition. But there are times when after I watch some movie or read some book, I can imagine something and compose on top. But the most important thing is to be inspired because without inspiration there is no method that helps to create something interessnate. And as everyone knows inspiration is something that comes when we least expect it.
3. Why do you write the sort of music that you do?
I do not know how to speak or write about love or passion. Also I’m not good at writing ballads or slow songs.
I do not like to talk about protests or political revolt in my songs. I believe that music has the power to take you to interesting places through imagination. So I prefer to address issues related to adventures, mysteries, magic, conspiracy and fun. That’s the vision I have for my music and that’s what I defined as a brand for my band.
4. How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?
There are short shows and longer shows and we have a lot of songs over five minutes long (some of them even go over ten minutes). So, we’re basing ourselves on how long the show is going to last and then we’ll fit it all into the time we’ll have on stage. Of course there are some songs that we can not stop playing because they are the reference of our set list. Another important factor is always being attentive to what our fans want to hear from us and this we can know by interacting with them through our web pages.
5. What are your plans for the future?
We will be part of another official compilation this year that will be released on the Roadie Metal label on various streaming platforms. Soon after we will have an EP released in the same format and by the same musical label later this year as well. In the other is only what I can advance for now, other news I still can not speak because there are still some details to be able to state about, but I can say that with each passing day our music has reached as many people as possible and it only motivates us more and more.
