- What inspired the name of the band and what are your influences?
David: the name came from one day at rehearsal our old drummer who was going through a break up walked in the room all depressed & said how all the songs on the radio he hears are sad one. It’s like the radio is LoveSick. We just kind of looked at each other & said write that done.
We all listen to different music but the inspiration for this batch of songs are bands like The Stones , Aerosmith, AC/DC, The Sex Pistols, The Black Crowes , The Who & Led Zeppelin to name a few. We wanted to write songs that have power, attitude & swagger.
- How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?
David: it’s mostly starts with a riff & the music. I’ll make a demo then send it to troy( singer) & see if it speaks to him. He’ll lay down a rough idea then send it back & then we will start going back & forth with ideas till we get something we think is strong enough. A lot of our songs deal with the human condition.
- Why do you write the sort of music that you do?
David: cuz that’s just us. We love rock n roll with loud guitars & a lot of hooks. We aren’t sitting around chasing trends. That music I play naturally when I pick up a guitar is stuff inspired by the bands we mentioned previously.
- How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?
David: Our songs are written to be played live. Stripped down & not really over produced. We change the set a lot but it’s mostly depends on the audience we are playing for that night that influences the songs we pick.
- What are your plans for the future?
David: a lot more new music & shows are coming very soon. We have been putting out a new song every other month & plan on continuing with that for a bit more. We love what we do & aren’t planning to stop anytime soon. Thanks for taking the time to talk to us.
