Tanith take their name from a character in a Hammer Horror Classic, and their music is definitely something to hear. This album is a fantastic shot into the light and the dark.
“Citadel,” has an interesting mix of elements. There are the soaring leads, the pounding drums and then there’s the heartfelt melodies which flicker in and out, bringing the listener to something closer to perfection. “Book of Changes,” kicks some serious ass, brimming with confidence and showering the listener in eargasmic riffs and bass lines. “Wing Of The Owl,” leads from the very beginning with a massive hook in the riffs, and the melodies weaving themselves together and apart, showing some very interesting colour and character. “Cassini’s Deadly Plunge,” rocks the house down, bringing a soulful bass line and a horror show on the melodies which is portrayed well in the melodies elsewhere. “Under The Stars,” moves with frequency and pace, taking the listener by the scruff of the neck and making them pay attention to everything.
“Mountain,” slows things down a little, but adds in several layers of growth and groove. “Eleven Years,” takes things in a slightly more chaotic melodic direction with the acoustic guitars and the leads mixing in and out of one another, ensuring the listener can’t quite put their finger on the pulse of what is happening. “Dionysus,” is a powerful song. Filled with strength from the melodies, the guitar leads and all that encompasses the song, proving that the band are truly on the next level. “Under The Stars (Reprise,)” fast and chaotic but with trippy elements, truly a classic.
