What inspired the name of the band? What are your influences and are they the same as when you started out?
The name EXXASENS is a fusion of ideas that reflect both the external universe and the inner journey we all experience. The prefix “EXXA” comes from the scientific term “exa-,” representing an extremely large unit of measurement, symbolizing vastness and the idea of reaching beyond. “SENS” hints at “sense” or “sensation,” connecting to the emotional resonance we aim to create through our music. Together, EXXASENS symbolizes a sense of limitless exploration—both of the cosmos and the complex emotional landscapes within each of us. It’s about the journey of discovery and the unknown, both out there in space and within our own minds.
Musically, we draw from a wide range of influences, including post-rock, progressive metal, electronic music, and even jazz. Bands like Mogwai, Explosions in the Sky, and progressive bands as Tool or Porcupine Tree are huge inspirations, as well as artists like Jean-Michel Jarre for his electronic soundscapes. These influences help us blend heavy riffs with atmospheric melodies to create a sound that feels both vast and introspective.
How do you approach songwriting?
Songwriting for us is a journey—it often starts with a melody or a riff that captures a certain feeling. From there, we layer and build until we find the right balance between heaviness and atmosphere. We’re particularly drawn to themes of space, exploration, and the human experience. For example, with our latest album, INFINITUM, we wanted to convey a sense of awe, discovery, and even existential questioning. These themes resonate with us deeply, and we hope they also inspire listeners to reflect on their own journeys.

Why?
We’re driven by a desire to create music that goes beyond words and transports people somewhere else. Instrumental music has a unique power; it allows each listener to interpret it in their own way and feel emotions without being directed by lyrics. Our sound is heavy yet melodic, emotional yet powerful, and we love how it can connect with people on a personal level, letting them take what they need from each track. Creating these vast, sonic landscapes is our way of expressing the beauty and mystery of existence.
Live?
Choosing songs for a live set depends on the atmosphere we want to create and the energy of the venue. We aim to balance intensity and atmosphere, picking songs that will resonate with the audience in a live setting. Translating our music live often involves rearranging or adding layers, as well as using visual elements to enhance the experience. We want our shows to feel immersive, almost like a journey through space, so we carefully plan each detail to make it as powerful live as it is on the record.

What plans do you have for the future?
We’re excited about the upcoming release of INFINITUM, which will be out 8th November. This is our eighth studio album, and hope to take this music to as many stages as possible. Our goal is to connect with fans around the world, and we’re aiming to perform at more festivals and international venues. Beyond that, we’re constantly exploring new sounds and pushing our music in different directions. There’s always something more to discover, and we’re eager to continue evolving as a band and sharing this journey with our listeners.
