Tuesday 19th March, Resorts World Arena, Birmingham, the scene was set for something heavy and something a bit humble. The masses converged on the home of heavy metal to watch three legendary bands plow their craft.

First onto the stage were Uriah Heep.  The legendary British rockers started the show with two songs from latest album Chaos and Colour that set the mood for the audience, and got the hands going. Following it up with classics “Rainbow Demon,” and “Hurricane,” showed that the band knew just what the crowd wanted. Closing with the legendary trilogy of “Free N Easy,” “Gypsy,” and  “Easy Livin’,” showed that the band were in tight form, much to the crowd’s appreciation.

Saxon were next on and they delivered a thunderous performance. Their first live show in Birmingham for many years saw them dip into their new album to positive applause, before delving into the classics. “747 (Strangers In The Night,” “Heavy Metal Thunder,” “Wheels of Steel,” and “Motorcycle Man,” got the crowd off their seats and jumping and jiving.  “Princess of The Night,” finished things off to a roaring crowd.

Finally came the mighty Judas Priest. Fresh off the back of their highest ever charting album in the UK, the band opened up with a double gut punch of “Panic Attack,” and “You’ve Got Another Thing Comin,” before moving into the thrust of “Breaking The Law,” “Rapid Fire,” and “Sword of Damocles”. The band and the crowd were feeding off one another, amped and ready to go, and so we went back in time. “Love Bites,” and “Saints In Hell,” got the classic albums forward and delivered them in seminal style. “Crown of Horns,” an anthem for the band turned nicely into the crowd sing along for “Turbo Lover,” before we had the whammy of “Invincible Shield,” “Victim of Changes,” “The Green Manalishi,” and “Painkiller”. The final thrust of “Electric Eye,” “Hell Bent for Leather,” “Metal Gods,” and “Living After Midnight,” the latter two which featured Glen Tipton as a special guest appearance, were the perfect send off for the show.

A brilliant night, a fantastic set from all three bands, and memories a plenty.
