Ambience
On what proved to be a dark, grey and rainy Thursday evening, the denzines of Birmingham were treated to some bombastic Viking Symphonic Metal.
The appetisers were provided by Catalyst Crime, Metalite and Northtale, who got the crowd amped up and ready for the main event.
Viking swordsmen duelled as the opening tape built things into a crescendo, in a wave of smoke, Leaves Eyes descended onto the stage and cracked into the opener. “Chain Of The Golden Horn,” a song that got the crowd surging and moving. During the melodical break, one could hear the crowd going full throttle. From there the band and the audience carried one another.
From there the band went from strength to strength, bringing old new songs such as “Who Wants To Live Forever,” “Forged By Fire,” and “Realm of the Dark Waves,” to raputorous applause from the audience. Given the strength of the band’s new album Myths of Fate, one expects there to be more new material debuted soon.
More classics were brought out as well in the form of “Serpents and Dragons,” and “Sign Of The Dragonhead,” turning things into a frenzy.
Overall a fantastic night, and one that will live on in the memories of those who were in attendance.
