COINED
What inspired the name of the band?
The original band was made up of two Polish guys, a Greek, and a Brit. The name Dialekt was coined to represent that.
How do you approach songwriting? Are there any themes that you are keen to explore when you start off?
Normally Mariano, resident guitar wizard, has some home brewed riffs that he brings to practice with some ideas about bass and drums. We write around that and Matt then selects a lyric page he thinks will work with it or writes something new entirely depending on the feel.

NU METAL
Why do you write the sort of music that you do?
Nu Metal was a big thing as our music tastes developed. It was the basis for the band in the early days and a lot of the material from that time survives now. A lot of the new material has taken on a much heavier tone but we keep it there as sort of a new take on modern metalcore
How do you decide what songs to perform live and how do you transpose them into that live setting?
We had a set setlist to play for each gig and didn’t often stray from it. As our bank of tracks got larger, we started to swap songs out in favour of the newer stuff. We normally swap in the tracks that we think will get people excited about hearing us, tracks that we particularly enjoy playing, or tracks that have a meaning we want to get across at a certain point in time.

WHAT WORKS
AIR
What plans do you have for the future?
The rest of 2020 is kind of up in the air at the moment but we’re planning on getting back into the studio ASAP to record another two tracks for everyone. We’re already pencilled in for a few dates later this year too and are hoping to fit some more in the gaps. Beyond 2020, we were thinking about world domination but will settle with a European tour for now.
